Steinberg Canadian Dividend Growth
Value Investing. Uncompromised.
At Lorne Steinberg Wealth Management, capital preservation, managing risk, and exceeding client expectations is of paramount importance. Through our disciplined investment approach, we aim to grow client capital over time within a lower risk framework.
We manage investments conservatively and focus on downside protection – we look down before looking up. There is a wide range of investment opportunities spanning the globe and we chase value wherever we can find it. While we are not aggressive traders, we are extremely aggressive in the hunt for value. We refuse to compromise our investment criteria to simply be fully invested at all times. If we do not find compelling investments, we simply hold a portion in cash and wait patiently. Those who are always fully invested merely ride the market up and down and cannot take advantage of the great opportunities that arise when markets sell off.
At LSWM, we align interests and eat our own cooking. All clients and employees hold the same investments. We have a long history as value investors and our approach to the equity market is consistent with the conservative, value–based investment philosophy that defines Lorne Steinberg Wealth Management. The objective of the Dividend Growth strategy is to earn dependable dividend income with the potential for capital appreciation over time. The strategy will invest in high-quality Canadian companies which pay a dividend, have a history of growing dividends, and are publicly traded. This strategy will be particularly advantageous in taxable accounts, where the Canadian dividend tax credit can be applied.
Investing principles
We offer separately managed accounts for discerning, high net worth investors. An appropriate investment policy is chosen to suit the needs of each individual client. The Investment Policy Statement is designed to reflect client objectives, risk tolerance, liquidity, tax situation and any unique circumstances that may be relevant. Quarterly communication assures that clients are kept abreast of their investments as well as the firm’s investment outlook and strategy. All client assets are held in their own name at a major Canadian financial institution.
